Nurses Named Most Trusted Profession for 23rd Straight Year

For the 23rd year in a row, nurses rank No. 1 in Gallup Poll’s annual Most Honest and Ethical Professions Poll. The poll of 23 occupations including engineers, medical doctors, teachers, and more was released on January 13, 2025.  The poll concluded that 76% of Americans — three out of four — consider nurses highly honest and ethical.

American Nurses Association President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN responded to the poll results: “This acknowledgment is an undeniable reflection of the positive impact nurses have on the patients they diligently care for and on the health care system they support. What nurses do every day is nothing short of incredible. As the representative of the interests of the nation’s more than 5 million nurses, I give my word that we will continue to vigorously advocate for meaningful policies and solutions to the issues that inhibit a healthy workplace culture and quality patient care delivery throughout 2025 and beyond.”

Since nurses were added to the survey in 1999, nursing has taken the top spot in all but one year, 2001 in which firefighters earned the honor in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Rebrand In Progress

The American Nurses Enterprise announced that its family of brands—the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the American Nurses Foundation—is undergoing a comprehensive rebrand after more than 125 years of excellence in service to the nursing profession.

The flame has been redesigned to look like an "N" and a new color palette (shown below) will be part of the rebrand as well.

You may have noticed that we have updated our brand to align with American Nurses Enterprise's Power of Nurses mission and vision—celebrating the strength, resilience, and impact of nurses across Rhode Island and beyond.
This new branding reflects our commitment to advocacy, innovation, and supporting our incredible nursing community. Make sure to check out risna.nursingnetwork.com for updates, resources, and opportunities to engage with ANA-RI!
The Multi-Generational Workforce: Engaging four generations of nurses

Engaging every nurse in our profession can be incredibly powerful. When nurses come together, we can advocate more effectively for our patients, families, and communities while supporting each other professionally and emotionally. Unity among nurses strengthens the profession by facilitating change for improvement and influencing policymaking. That said, research by the American Nurses Enterprise has revealed that this engagement is lacking. Many Millennial and Generation Z (Gen Z)

nurses report unhealthy and hostile work environments and a lack of belonging at work and within the enterprise. Generational differences are treasured in families and cultures, so why not in the nursing profession? Discover what Susan A. Goncalves, DNP, MS, RN, MEDSURG-BC, GERO-BC, has learned about what different generations need to thrive at work.
