The Virginia Nurses Foundation's (VNF) annual Gala was held at the beautiful Hilton Hotel & Spa in Short Pump, VA the evening of November 23 where nurses across the commonwealth were honored through VNF's Leadership Excellence Awards, the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet and Pathways Awards, Magnet Excellence Awards and more! In-Person Lobby Day Tuesday, January 21 at the Virginia State Capitol

VNA's Lobby Day is a day to advocate for nurses and the nursing profession at the Virginia State Capitol! On Tuesday, January 21 from 8am-12pm, we will be meeting at the General Assembly to speak with legislators and advocate for 2025 legislation, and issues impacting the nursing profession, our patients and clients, and our communities. 2025 Chapter Scholarships Application Period Opens January 6!

We encourage aspiring nursing students to keep an eye out for the opening of the 2025 VNA/VNF Scholarship Application on January 6, 2025. Click here to bookmark the Chapter Scholarship webpage!

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • Have successfully completed at least four nursing courses (and received grades) in a nursing program at a state-approved and nationally accredited school of nursing in Virginia.

  • Be a Virginia resident.

  • Have a college/university cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale.

  • Must have at least one full semester remaining before graduation, allowing the funds to be applied toward a registered nursing degree.

Requirements

Applications must include:

  • A transcript from the college or university that provides evidence of academic standing, current enrollment in nursing courses required for the nursing degree and completion of at least four nursing courses. A copy of a transcript (unofficial transcript) is acceptable. VNF reserves the right to verify enrollment.

  • A personal statement written by the applicant that describes why the individual chose a career in nursing and explains any financial need.

  • A resume that includes community service, employment, awards, scholarships, professional organizations, and any honors received.

  • One letter of recommendation from a faculty member who can speak to the applicant's character and potential. An optional second letter of recommendation may also be included.

Each purchase supports the foundation's nurse leadership development programs, mental health initiatives to ensure nurses' well-being, maternal health initiatives, and a robust awards and scholarships program. Plates are available for purchase on the DMV website for $25. And yes, anyone can buy them!
