Ohio Nurses Association 2025 Lobby Day
May 8th, 2025

ONA will continue to stand strong for safe care at the 2025 Nurses and Health Professionals Lobby Day. The healthcare system in Ohio is in Code Red. Unsafe staffing, rising workplace violence, and hospital executives prioritizing profits over patient safety have created a crisis that cannot be ignored. But nurses and health professionals are fighting back—and now is the time to take that fight directly to lawmakers.

On Thursday, May 8, the ONA will bring together nurses and health professionals from across the state for our 2025 Nurses and Health Professionals Lobby Day at the Ohio Statehouse. This year’s theme, “Stand Strong for Safe Care: Defend Worker Rights, Protect Patients, Demand Safe Staffing,” sends a clear message: We are demanding action to protect our patients, our profession, and ourselves. This event is not just a meeting—it’s a movement.

Earn Up to 5.25 CE Credits!

Attendees of the event will receive nursing continuing education contact hours for meeting with legislators, hearing from experts, and rallying together outside the Statehouse to show our unwavering commitment to working towards worker rights, safe care, and Medicaid funding.

Why You Need to Be There:

This year’s Lobby Day will equip you with the tools, training, and direct access to legislators needed to advance safe staffing legislation, workplace violence prevention laws, and policies that prioritize patient care over corporate profits.
  • Learn from healthcare leaders and policy experts about how to organize for real change.
  • Speak directly with legislators about the Code Red crisis in Ohio hospitals and demand legislative solutions.
  • Join the Worker Rights, Safe Care, and Medicaid Funding Rally outside the Statehouse to stand strong for safe care.
  • Engage in interactive strategy sessions on organizing for staffing laws, enforcing workplace violence prevention, and building political power.
This is our chance to hold lawmakers accountable and demand legally enforceable protections for nurses and health professionals!

Nursing News
2025 is the Year to Renew Your Nursing License!

Ohio RNs and APRNs must renew Ohio licenses in 2025. This will include single-state and multi-state licenses. Ohio Board of Nursing will open the online application process in Summer 2025. In the meantime, nurses can prepare for renewal by making sure continuing education requirements for this licensure cycle are met.

For RNs renewing their Ohio license, 24 contact hours will need to be earned during this licensure cycle, including at least 1 contact hour of Category A (cycle is November 1, 2023 – October 31, 2025). As Spring approaches, now is a great time to look for conferences and events where needed contact hours can be earned!

For those who enjoy learning independently, ONA offers many continuing education courses online here.

For those who enjoy in-person events, check out ONA's event webpage and watch for event announcements on ONA’s social media.
