Professional Achievements:

I successfully implemented a remote nurse mentor program for labor and delivery nurses. This program allowed nurses located at critical access hospitals the ability to have the same benefits the larger hospital facilities have in regard to peer mentoring while caring for mothers who were laboring, in post-partum, and for newborn care. This program gave nurses the ability to quickly reach out via an application, within their health system's communication device used by all nurses, to a nurse colleague located miles away at one of the larger facilities within the healthcare system. This allowed for nurses to also share best practices by using this way of communication and also provided the support our critical access nurses needed to feel more at ease with caring for this population. Having peer to peer support is something most nurses take for granted, and by implementing this program our critical access nurses were able to bring their nurse peer to the bedside by way of technology.

I also received a nurse excellence award at St. Luke's Health System in 2020, as I assisted with the work that impacted our outcomes for laboring mothers. My role was that I encouraged and assisted in the build of our quantified blood loss calculator that is used as part of the tool kit put into place in assisting with reducing post partum hemorrhage in mothers by early recognition of any issues.
