Professional Achievements:
35 years of nursing including telemetry/step-down, pain management In- and Outpatient, CV ICU, Charge, Preceptor, Pre-/Post-procedure units. I have achieved Level 4 on TGH’s clinical ladder, attended NTI 3 years, was an NTI Veteran Scholarship Awardee for the 2019 NTI Conference in Orlando. I became CVRN-Board Certified in 2015 and have co-coordinated CVRN review/certification courses annually since then. I became a Clinical Educator on a CV Pre/Post Procedure Unit in January 2017 and was elected to the board of TGH’s Nurse Practice Council as their Secretary/Treasurer in January 2019 for a one-year term. I remain a member on the Nurse Practice Communicating Council and several other hospital committees.
Favorite Thing About My Profession:
As a Clinical Educator, I still love doing bedside care. Setting a patient at ease through educating them or a calming touch, helping them clarify their medications, sending them home smiling. This makes my day.
My new passion is helping my staff take charge of their careers and reach for new goals, Certification, Clinical Ladder, Classes to be a resource on new procedures or equipment.
With the new focus everywhere being on higher education, my goal is to help the bedside nurse become all she/he can and still feel fulfilled and challenged while leading and sharing information with the next generations of bedside nurses.
