University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Educator Level I for a nursing job in Miami, Florida.

The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics- Endocrinology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Classroom Nurse Educator 1 to work in Miami.
The Nurse Educator 1 is a Registered Nurse responsible for unit(s)-specific professional development of the staff. The Nurse Educator 1 serves as a clinical resource and role model within their area of expertise. The incumbent fulfills unit(s) functions according to the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) roles of learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty, and partner for practice transitions. The Nurse Educator 1 carries out these responsibilities in alignment with the current Nursing Professional Development Scope & Standards of Practice and utilizing the nursing process as applied to the specialty (assessment, learning needs and outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
Core Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Nurse Educators, and Manager, to support and implement unit(s) educational programs for nursing and clinical staff based on environmental scanning: identified practice gaps, regulatory/accreditation, specialty standards, PI reports, mission/values, policies, procedures, guidelines, and learning needs.
Develops activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skills, or practice.
Creates a learning environment by collaborating with practitioners, leaders, nurses, educators, patient care staff, and unit management in providing continuing nursing education and in-services.
Coordinates education of patient care staff to ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Documents, and supports competency, and addresses competency deficits in staff members and teams.
Supports the process of orienting, socializing, and integrating an employee to the organization with a focus on retention and growth.
Facilitates unit(s) orientation of licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel during onboarding and when changes in roles, responsibilities, and practice settings occur.
Works with PDD to develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, conduct, and evaluate onboarding and orientation programs for unit(s) licensed and unlicensed healthcare personnel.
Maintains professional knowledge by partnering with individuals, groups, and/or organizations to share expertise in planning and decision-making to achieve common goals. Collaborative partnerships may include interprofessional groups within the organization, academic/practice partnerships, and community partnerships.
Participates in applicable continuing education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
Answer emergency calls through our CDE phone line.
Provide documentation to parents and schools.
Stays abreast of technology & medications used in the treatment of diabetic patients
Works closely with School nurses to ensure proper care of Diabetic patients.
Train school nurses on how to treat diabetic children.
Train patients/parents on insulin pumps, glucose sensors, insulin smart pens, diabetic meter downloads, medications, and patient care.
Provide services in clinic with diabetic team.
Meet with patients at the hospital for diabetic education including new onset patients, DKA patients, and other patients requiring diabetes education.
Works closely with the Pediatric Diabetes service to ensure high quality patient care for diabetic patients.
Order diabetes clinic supplies
Order prescriptions for patients
Obtain Prior authorizations for patients Liaise with Pediatric Psychology team.
Assist with Transition to Adult Endocrinology
Assist Pediatric Endocrine Diabetes with support on projects and conferences.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
Valid State of Florida RN license required
BLS from American Heart Association only
Bilingual English/Spanish or English /Creole preferred
Certified Diabetes Educator preferred​
Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
