Position Description

RN: PROCEDURES NURSE, ENDOSCOPY CENTER (DAYS) *UP TO $15,000 IN REWARDS*

Shift:  Monday through Friday, typically 8 or 10 hour shifts.

Operating hours typically fall between 6A-6PM, with some flexibility. Roughly 3 - 5 weekday call shifts per month, 2-3 weekend call days in two months, and 2-3 late/swing shifts/month to cover late procedures.  Set shift will be determined during interview process.

Salary Range: $22.78 to $30.37

Provides nursing services GI/Endoscopy department: Administer intravenous sedation or analgesia during special procedures and closely monitor patients with cardiac/pulse oximeters.

  • Perform nursing health histories on every patient to assist in determining the patient’s ability to undergo the ordered procedure and the potential risks involved.
  • Document information reflecting patient's condition and nursing care given.
  • Evaluate fall risk and formulate a fall prevention plan; document risk and plan for each patient undergoing GI lab endoscopy.
  • Monitor, complete, and document the administration of blood products.
  • Evaluate and treat patient pain before, during, and after procedures, as well as document according to hospital standards.  
  • Administer patient restraints and monitor their use.
  • Administer moderate sedation according to standards set for all units in the hospital.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and manage airway status before, during, and after procedures.
  • Anticipate needs in procedure room, position patients, and assist anesthesia team with any emergent needs they have (including suction, maintain airway, and assist with intubation).  
  • Perform all phases of PACU duties for sedation and anesthesia patients on a daily basis.  Have ability to respond to all urgent and emergent situations (similar to those situations within the PACU responsibilities).
  • Plan, direct, and/or participate in the education of the patient, patient family, community, and health professionals.Provide patient and family education both before and after procedure (including depart summary review).
  • Work collaboratively and facilitate intra-disciplinary work with several teams including anesthesia, lab, pathology, respiratory therapy, IV team, and Tiger Team.
  • Obtain and maintain BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Responsible for staying until all patient care and division responsibilities (scope reprocessing, etc.) are complete at end of day. Will require flexibility in schedule.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri is required;
  • Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills is required.
