Position Description

The Associate Director for Isabella Graham Hart School of Nursing (IGH) is responsible for the implementation and oversight of academic and clinical quality for the Licensed Practical Nurse Program that aligns with the strategic initiatives of Rochester Regional Health, QSEN, IOM, NLN, ACEN.

  • Master's degree in Nursing Education
  • Minimum of 7 years of nursing experience required
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching and leadership experience preferred
  • New York State Registered Nurse Licensure


  • Provide direction and oversight for Isabella Graham Hart (IGH) School of Practical Nursing.
  • Align resources to drive strategic initiatives, Program and Student Learning Outcomes.
  • Rely on data, education literature, and operational expertise in the development of goals and strategies to achieve strategic plan outcomes.
  • Coordinates the data abstraction, analysis, and submission for Program Outcomes and Student Learning Outcomes (SLO).
  • Responsible for program wide coordination and standardization of all aspects of clinical quality, Lab/simulation alignment, and curriculum design.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership across the system and community to develop an infrastructure that focus on improving patient outcomes and ensuring clinical best practices.
  • Function as a change agent and leader; provide leadership, support and mentorship to IGH Faculty and students.
  • Evaluate faculty performance and manages class schedules for Clinical, Lab, Simulation, and Academic. Offers guidance, education, and feedback to faculty and staff regarding program improvement, process change and needs, and techniques. Engages in effective advisement and counseling strategies that help learners to meet their professional goals. Assists faculty to develop the ability to engage in thoughtful and constructive self and peer evaluation.
  • Plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operations of the practical nursing program in accordance with current federal, state and local standards and with accreditation standards. Acts as the ACEN Accreditation champion tracks and reports program data to ensure accreditation body (ACEN) and New York State Department of Education standards are met and recommended actions are fully implemented.
  • Act as ATI Products Champion.
  • Works closely with the hospital legal and compliance officers to ensure program compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, Cleary Act, Title IX, and confidentiality of records.
  • Participates in the development of budgets to support the IGH program and accreditation
  • Act as Chair of Curriculum Committee. Ensures that the curriculum reflects institutional philosophy and mission, current nursing and health care trends, and community and societal needs so as to prepare graduates for practice in a complex, dynamic, multicultural health care environment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum development including identifying program outcomes, developing competency statements, writing learning objectives, and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluation strategies
  • Creates and maintains community and clinical partnerships that support educational goals.
  • Revises curriculum based on an assessment of program outcomes, learner needs, and community relevance and health care trends
  • Models professional behaviors for learners including, but not limited to, involvement in professional organizations, engagement in lifelong learning activities, dissemination of information through publications and presentations, and advocacy
  • Engage in Scholarship. Demonstrates qualities of a scholar: integrity, courage, perseverance, vitality, and creativity
  • Draws on literature to design evidence-based teaching and evaluation practices
  • Exhibits a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, evaluation methods, and other aspects of the role.
  • Acts as a life-long learner: pursue continuous quality Improvement in the Nurse Educator Role, participates in a minimum of 22 continuing education hours per year
