  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

    DRUG TESTING: This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Selectee must submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random testing thereafter. Final appointment and continued employment are conditional on negative results for illegal drug use.

    QualificationsYou must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position.  Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education.  Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the appropriate experience requirements.

    Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.  This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained

    Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the State of Washington.

    In addition to the basic requirements, the following additional education and/or experience are qualifying.  Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education.  Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the specialized experience requirements.  Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. 

    GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level or a master's degree in professional nursing. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.  

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: administering emergency care for illnesses, injuries, dental and mental health problems; performing cursory physical examinations which included gathering health histories and checking eyes, ears, nose, lungs, joints, etc., and assisting the physician with complete physical examination; assisting with the administration of medications and treatments, as ordered by the physician, and follow-up care.
