The West Houston Chapter (WHC) is "Guided by Why" in our quest to strengthen leadership and inspire member participation in leadership opportunities. During strategic planning a SWOT analysis revealed that member engagement on the board and chapter committees was a noticeable weakness. To encourage members to become future leaders, AACN’s Willingness to Serve form was revised into one form describing chapter committees and another form summarizing board officer positions. Other initiatives include posting board meetings on our website and networking with membership before monthly and committee meetings. Leadership growth focuses on educating officers through the Leadership Development Workshop at AACN’s NTI and previous officers and board members mentoring new officers. This operating plan is evaluated during board meetings. It is through developing a robust leadership that we are able to promote the mission, vision and goals of AACN.
