At the 2006 celebration, Victoria Hertko, chair of the Iowa Nurses Foundation, announced that the sponsorship money remaining after covering the cost of the event would fund a new education awards program.
The 100 Great Iowa Nurses Financial Awards for Education promotes professional nursing in Iowa by supporting the continued education of future nurse leaders. The scholarships are for Masters' or PhD nursing students and are $1500 each.
The date on the website says application deadline be February 8, but they have extended it and nurses can still apply.
