The Fresno Sierra Chapter of HPNA

Dear Fresno Sierra Chapter member:

It is with sincere regret that we must contact you about the dissolution of the Fresno Sierra HPNA Chapter. The Fresno Sierra Chapter has tried without success to conduct membership meetings which occur 4 times a year.  The Chapter diligently advertised via word of mouth, Facebook, The Nursing Network, and a wide distribution of meeting flyers. In addition, the Chapter has tried to identify new leaders without success to continue the goals of the chapter.

According to our bylaws, we must hold a meeting to discuss and agree on whether to dissolve the chapter. That meeting was held on June 4, 2019 at 5:30 PM at the Cedarbrook Assisted Living Facility. The decision was by made by a majority vote of the Fresno Sierra Executive Board. This decision did not come about lightly.  We had to take into consideration the drastic lowering of attendance and overall participation of nurses in our community who have been impacted by increasing work loads and various shifting of personnel and resources.

If anyone receiving this letter wishes to re-start an HPNA Chapter for this area, be prepared to accept leadership responsibilities necessary to reactivate it and be prepared to persuade others to support you in this effort. Support for new leadership for this chapter is available from Chad Reilly, Director of Membership at the National HPNA and his assistant, Joan Blumer. Here are their email addresses:   chadr@hpna.org  joanb@hpna.org

We greatly appreciate your support over the years and hope that in the future, leadership for our area may eventually emerge again.  It has been a wonderful experience serving you and our community. Thank you for all you have done to advance expert hospice and palliative nursing care in our community.

Kind Regards,

The Fresno Sierra HPNA Executive Board
