Researchers found that 54.6% of infants born preterm were healthy and had no major chronic mental or physical health problems in adulthood, compared with 63% of those born full-term. The study in the Journal of the American Medical Association was based on Swedish health registry data, and nearly 96% of premature babies born in the 1990s survived to adulthood, compared with nearly 91% of those born during the 1970s.
