Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a form of mechanical circulatory support used as a bridge to recovery, transplant, or alternative therapy (ie, VAD insertion). ECMO’s usage is growing each year, and machines are becoming increasingly portable giving rise to therapies like ECPR.
