Career Opportunity-NP in Palliative Care at Bellevue Hospital

We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Nurse Practitioner with the Palliative Care team at Bellevue Hospital. To qualify you must have a master’s degree in Nursing and New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure as a Palliative Care, Adult-Geriatric Primary Care, Adult-Geriatric Acute Care or Family nurse practitioner.  HPCC advance practice certification preferred, however, HPCC advance practice certification within the first year of employment will be required. required.  Prior experience in hospice or palliative care preferred; but a demonstrated strong interest in palliative care is required and with a preference for past experience in critical care, geriatrics, oncology or pain management as an RN or an NP. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team are a must. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment and management of patients in the hospital across various care settings and will function as part of an interdisciplinary palliative care consultation service providing assessment and treatment to patients who are referred for consultation. Responsibilities include physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessment and management of pain and other symptoms, discussion of goals of care with patients and their families, advance directives and coordination of care planning with the primary team and outside agencies. Other responsibilities include education, both formal and informal to nursing and other disciplines, with opportunities for standards development, hospital committee memberships and participation in activities to expand the service. There is an opportunity for career development and mentoring.
