Project Talk Trial

A collaborative research project funded by

the National Institutes of Health

The Project Talk Trial is a 5-year, randomized, controlled research initiative that aims to engage underserved communities in advance care planning conversations and empower them to ensure their end-of-life goals and wishes are met. It is a collaborative effort by Penn State College of Medicine, Hospice Foundation of America, and the University of Kentucky.

Seventy-five communities across the U.S. will be selected to host an event that will evaluate the impact of several approaches to promote advance care planning in underserved populations, such as ethnic and racial minority backgrounds, rural communities, or low-income areas.

Three community conversation activity tools will be assessed:

  • Hello game
  • The Conversation Project Conversation Guide
  • Table Topics game
