New reachout for Area 6 Board Volunteers to Serve
Good afternoon everyone,
I hope this writing finds you all well! Thank you to those of you new to, and continuing to renew, your PLN Area 6 membership! I continue to see members renewing, however those not doing so is becoming more impactful.
I am reaching out again today to seek interested candidates to serve on ALL positions on the PLN Area 6 Board. I know this request has been shared in the past, and we had a few interested candidates. We have a number of members who have sought to relinquish their positions. I want to thank all previous board members for their ongoing support and service to the Area and look forward to your continued mentorship of new volunteers desiring to serve.
Again as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, and restrictions are either present or not, I still hope there is interest in maintaining membership and garnering new educator colleagues. However, as stated in the past the NLN Bylaws indicate, lack of member activities for a 3-year period is grounds for the disbandment of the area chapter. Again I do not want to see this happen, as we have a wealth of expertise to be shared and faculty educational needs to address. In the near future a needs assessment will be shared by the PLN State Board regarding faculty educational desires and options. One of the items discussed recently is potential consolidation of all 3 areas into one state wide consortium. (PA is the only state with separate logistic Areas) Please feel free to feedback on the survey when presented so that we at the state level can have all voices heard. The PLN State Board is actively in progress of program planning for virtual programs for the fall and spring, but individual Areas activity is still paramount to the ongoing success of PLN. Also of concern is potential growing impetus for changes in clinical education across the state which you and your teams may already be experiencing. Becoming active to support legislative efforts to enhance change is one of the PLN's critical tasks as well.
The positions still available are as follows:
Chair-Elect
Treasurer
Program Chair
Nominations and Elections
Secretary
If you are interested in serving in any capacity on the board, please let me know, so that we can begin to rebuild the area leadership. These are working positions, meaning there is one leader position but the board in total is responsible for contribution and workload assistance. The board meets monthly for strategic planning and operations. These sessions are held by a conference call for ease at a mutually agreeable time. In order to serve in a board position, you must be an active PLN member in good standing.
Any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Please stay safe, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Wendy
