Yesterday, NYONEL, along with several organization members of the New York Nursing Alliance (NYNA) issued the attached  statement in support of A9974-Gottfried/S8869-Rivera which would require hospital and ambulatory surgery centers to use smoke evacuation systems during all operative procedures that generate surgical smoke.  The bill is intended to protect the health and safety of OR staff by mitigating smoke exposure.  The collaborative support statement has been sent to all members of the Senate and Assembly Health Committees.
