Dear Members,
Please see the attached alert from the Maryland Department of Health Infectious Disease Prevention and Health Services Bureau.
Maryland Clinician Alert Regarding Monkeypox
Currently, there is one confirmed case in the Northeastern United States and multiple clusters of monkeypox are being monitored in other countries. Although no cases have been identified in Maryland, it is critical that Maryland providers have appropriate screening, infection prevention and notification processes in place for possible monkeypox - the “Identify, Isolate and Inform” paradigm - as outlined in the attached alert.
More information about monkeypox is available from the CDC at:
https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/clinicians/index.html, and please see the May 20th CDC Alert here:https://emergency.cdc.gov/han/2022/han00466.asp
