4.20.23 ASPMN Presidential Fireside Chat Meeting Notes:

  • New DEA 8 hour CE requirement for prescribers of controlled substances goes into effect in June
  • Pain Mgmt certified APRN's strongly encouraged to seek out new Advanced Practice Recognition - visit here for more info Advanced Practice Recognition Program - ASPMN
  • Call for Committee Nominations/Volunteers - Committees - ASPMN
    • I volunteered to join the social media/technology committee
    • Would love someone from our chapter to join either the education committee or the national conference planning committee... 
  • Committee Updates: 
    • Membership and Recruitment Committee - suggested if you work in acadamia or education roles to suggest chapter membership as tactic for professional development; this committee is requesting volunteers/help
    • Nominations Committee - reminding everyone they encourage self-nomination of awards. To review list of awards and criteria, visit: ASPMN Awards - ASPMN
    • Research Committee - call for grant proposals ends June 2023; new opportunities to partner with the HEAL research initiative
    • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee - requesting help/volunteers
    • Achievement and Recognition Committee 
    • Technology and Social Media Committee - I joined; they are asking for volunteers
    • Education COmmittee
      • Tracks updating of position statements
        • 3 updated in 2022: prescribing based solely on pain intensity, Procedural PM, and PM in patients with SUD
        • Coming soon - PM by catheter techniques
        • 2023/2024 updates to come in the near future

          • Range Orders
      • plans annual conference; has about 25 members
