Restructuring of NLN and PLN

Good Morning everyone,

At the September NLN Summit, information was shared that a restructuring process will be taking place over the next year.  This has many unknowns at this time for the local Areas, but we wanted to give early notice.  As per the NLN leadership, there will no longer be a tie from the main NLN, to the Constituent Leagues, of which PLN is. It was shared that too many constituencies were not following the NLN requirements and bylaw processes as one reason for the dissolution.  PLN was one of 4 leagues that WERE and ARE IN COMPLIANCE with NLN Standards. That separation from National, includes the local connection as well as financial support received from being a member school participant of NLN.

A meeting was held recently with leaders at the national and local level after the Summit to share the forthcoming change.  At that session, it was identified that 2024 will be a transition year for development of an Alliance Committee consisting of 10 members nationally, to help steer new changes.  That request for volunteers ended 12/12/23, so hopefully we may have guidance in the new year at some point.

The PLN Board of Directors met 12/13/23 at our monthly session to discuss what little is known at this point.  We felt it necessary to notify you as members of the forthcoming change, and for those of you who attended the NLN Summit this may not be new news.  For the coming months, we are going to tentatively continue operations as planned, as planning initiatives have been underway for programming in the Spring.  As more info comes to light over the next several months, we will be sure to share that with you as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to this mailing and we will guide as best as we can with the information we have available.

In the meantime, have a safe and happy holiday season however you celebrate!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
