NWCAC will host our quarterly Educational Meeting on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 8:30-12:00.  Our speakers' topics will be:  "Air Embolus Post Central Line Removal: A Critical Event", by Gerri Kaye, MS, APN-CNS, CCRN.  This 60 minute program will discuss the definitions of and need for placement of a central venous catheter (CVC).  The maintenance and care of the central line will be emphasized with a case study focusing on the pathophysiology of an air embolus, correct removal process, and emergency procedure if an air embolus is suspected.  Policy and procedure renewal will be included as part of a patient safety alert. The second topic will be, "Permanent Pacemaker Course", by Gal Bhudvanbhen, RN, MS, ONC.  This program will present an overview of Permanent Pacemaker curriculum to present potential issues that may arise, nursing interventions, and patient education.
