As you are probably aware, the National Board of Directors of HPNA has decided to close all HPNA state and regional chapters by the end of this year.  They have set up a link on the HPNA website for each state to facilitate communication between members.  Here is the link for Rhode Island posts. https://community.advancingexpertcare.org/communities/community-home?CommunityKey=bc157aa2-5bac-4a88-8288-0191480e6557

This news came unexpectedly and was admittedly disappointing given that we only recently launched our chapter.  Our RI-HPNA Board met recently to review options for charting a way forward and how to best manage our current funds.  Since the start of our chapter, we have reached out to all levels of nursing and to other disciplines working in palliative care and hospice.  Our meetings and educational offerings have essentially been open to all.

We would like to continue that mission and expand our interdisciplinary community practicing in serious illness and end-of-life care.  This is an opportunity to connect an increasingly diverse group of individuals to share projects, best practices, and educational events. Through networking and pooling our resources, we could have an even stronger impact on the quality of care we provide to the seriously ill, the dying, and their caregivers.

Our last member meeting as RI-HPNA Friday December 6th which will be a holiday gathering.  We are reimagining our future direction. Please stay tuned for more to come……

Thank you,

RI-HPNA BOARD
