Two Events... One Day

Augusta, GA
The Concerned National Black Nurses of CSRA

November 2nd proved to be a very busy day for the CNBN.

We divided our energies to resource two community events supported by Augusta University: White Ribbon Fall Festival and Community Fair for Sickle Cell Awareness. This year's White Ribbon Fall Festival was held at the Augusta Saturday Market located on 8th Street along Augusta's Riverwalk. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and accounts for more than 25% of all cancer deaths. The goal of the festival was to help increase awareness about lung cancer's risk, prevention opportunities, and treatment options. This was the third year in a row that the CNBN was present to take blood pressures and answer health related questions.

Meanwhile, Member Dr. Prince-Clark was not far away at the Community Fair to increase Sickle Cell Awareness with her students. The event also helped put people in contact with resources related to sickle cell care and research, mental health services and provided general health screenings.
