Please see this summary of important key points regarding Neffy from our State School Nurse Consultant, Lorraine Borek, MEd., RN CSN-NJ:
-
School nurses in New Jersey are permitted to administer Neffy with a valid order from a licensed healthcare provider.
-
School nurses in New Jersey may only delegate epinephrine auto-injectors, therefore Neffy may not be delegated.
-
Changes in the law to allow the delegation of single dose units of epinephrine (removing auto-injector) have not been passed by the legislature.
-
If there is a change to the law, districts will be notified at that time.
Our thanks to Lorraine Borek for clarifying this important information. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
