Palliative Nursing Leadership Intensive
Leadership in palliative care is characterized by leading others through motivation, inspiration and positive relationships. To be successful leaders, nurses must understand essential aspects of leadership. Through didactic presentations, interactive discussion, role play and the use of media, this session will explore palliative nursing leadership. The emphasis will be on the role of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and his or her role in leading palliative programs, initiatives, and projects. The morning will focus on key concepts of leadership, the difference between leadership and management, and essential leadership qualities. The afternoon will focus on communication, specific issues within advanced practice nursing leadership, and developing an individualized plan for leadership.

- Differentiate Essential Nursing Leadership Qualities
- Apply 5 areas of palliative nursing leadership throughout workforce venues
- Develop an individualized leadership competency plan to maximize knowledge, transfer and application
