Professional Achievements:

-5 years as a postop Orthopedic RN in a large acute care hospital -1 year working as an inpatient hospice RN -1+ year as a hospice admissions RN coveting 24 counties in and around Metro Atlanta My work experience plus having a biology degree have given me a wealth of knowledge regarding sports medicine, disease management, patient education, and disease/injury prevention. The biggest and most rewarding challenge of all is educating patients and families about the benefits of hospice- especially those who still believe that "hospice" is a "4 letter word".

Favorite Thing About My Profession:

I thrive on getting to meet all types of people; and having the compassion, knowledge and ability to provide help or comfort when they need it most.

Virtues:

A few of my most notable virtues: Integrity, intelligence, and a strong desire to advocate for my patients so they may feel informed and empowered. I believe patients and their families can sense my genuine nature pretty quickly, which allows them to trust me and to see that I truly do have their best interests at heart. I also think my sense of humor helps tremendously in certain situations. Being able to quickly assess people's level of understanding regarding their conditions/options and being sensitive to their emotional states/needs is also a huge asset, especially in palliative care.
