Professional Achievements:
Graduated with honors and began my career as a graduate nurse in a community hospital on a medical surgical telemetry floor within one year I was trained and taking charge on the second shift. During my 5 1/2 years at the community hospital I was recruited by two separate nurse managers to precept new nurses and student nurses and to select, developed. and present in-service education to the unit.
2014 Caregiver of the year award from Caregiver Homes of RI for excellence in patient care plan outcomes.
Favorite Thing About My Profession:
Two fold answer-Caring,helping, educating, and advocacy for others and the excitement that being able to specialize in medical surgical nursing brings. Different opportunities that having that fundamental expertise in med-surge provides a flexibility to practice nursing in a multitude of other settings (compensated&uncompensated) with just about any patient population. My work never gets boring and if you need a break there is always a need in another setting to help you avoid burn out within a specific specialty.
