Professional Achievements:

DDNA offers the only professional certification in IDD nursing for RNs and LPNs/LVNs.

DDNA established the first Standards of DD Nursing practice, continuing to review and update these regularly, to ensure relevance and applicability in the current world of DD nursing.

DDNA has published numerous position statments on practice issues facing today's DD nurse, including establishing and publishing the standard of care for Medication Management for Persons with IDD.

Favorite Thing About My Profession:

Incorporated in 1992, the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit nursing specialty organization that is committed to advocacy, education, and support for nurses who provide services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).  IDD nurses are the experts in the care of individuals with IDD, and our goal is to foster the growth of nursing knowledge and expertise in the specialty, thereby empowering nurses to provide exceptional nursing care and to confidently have a voice in the current IDD service environment.

Virtues:

Our mission:  DDNA serves to educate, empower, and advocate for nurses practicing in the specialty of developmental disability nursing.
