Professional Achievements:
I’ve just begun my journey into nursing; I have two years under my belt! But my accomplishments to-date include graduating on the Dean’s List with my BSN, running for board member of the GPAC (yay!), becoming a member of healthcare organizations (AACN, ANA, CCRN, etc.), and finally getting a job in the ICU!
As for my short-term goals, I’ll be taking the CCRN exam at the end of this year. I’m going to be joining committees at my hospital, applying for scholarships, boosting my 3.6 GPA with community college classes, and hopefully volunteering at my local VA. All in all, I’m hoping to get some really solid work in before applying to DNAP-NA programs. I have big plans for the future, so stay tuned. Or join me!
Favorite Thing About My Profession:
John Cena wakes up from a coma and cries, “where am I?!”
“ICU,” replies the RN.
He shakes his head and says, “no, you can’t!”
My favorite thing about this profession, out of all the aspects I love, has to be the sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Most importantly, you’re keeping patients safe. However, none of that would be possible if you weren’t able to collaborate with your colleagues. I’m so grateful for the friends, teachers, mentors, and critics I’ve made along the way. Watching an event go smoothly because everyone is performing their job well is really a beautiful thing to see. Another thing I love about nursing is the sense of fulfillment. You’re exhausted, sweaty, and dirty by the end of the shift but when your patients hold your hand and say thank you, the joy you feel is immeasurable.
Virtues:
I believe the cornerstone of my (mild) success has come from the virtues that were instilled in me as a child by my wonderful parents. They are ones that I’ve carefully grown and tended to over the years. These virtues include honesty, gratitude, and hard work. I’ve been described as “ruthlessly diligent” before, and it shows in my patient care and ambitious desires. Compassion and temperance are two other learned traits that I actively foster. I strive to ensure my actions are impeccable, thorough, and integritous while prioritizing those in need, above all.
