Favorite Thing About My Profession:

Hello,
I am an RN in Honolulu. I have had over 15 years experience in NICU/PICU/ICU and I have worked at Kaiser, Tripler, Strauss and Kapiolani. The last time I worked in acute care was in 2019 and therefore I am unable to find any hospital willing to to hire and retrain me so that I can once again work in the specialties that I am so passionate about and the reason why I became a nurse. I’m beyond frustrated and am in tears thinking that I will be stuck in SNF nursing the rest of my career. Ask any of my previous employers and they will tell you that I am an excellent critical care nurse. Is there any way you can help me at all? Can you speak with one of the facilities on our island and see if they would be willing to retrain me? There is a critical care training program in Hilo but I cannot afford to move over there. Please let me know me know what I should do. I have had my CCRN and MY CCRN Neo and I cannot imagine my life continuing on in an SNF position. Please advise me on how I can get back to doing what I was made for and what I truly LOVE!
Thank You,
Leah Roye
