Favorite Thing About My Profession:

I enjoy being able to help people when they need it. This could be because they came in for something minor and just could use someone to talk to or it could go as far as taking care of someone in the acute postoperative phase of a cardio-thoracic surgery. Sometimes nurses don't really get to know their patients, their background, or why they may be in their current situation when we have the chance to. When in the reality of it all, that little extra step to do so could change that patient's whole course of stay or even their life. I love the ability to make that impact on the patient just because being kind can make the difference.
