Professional Achievements:

Patti Owens provides consultation and E-Learning services in the areas of aesthetic and medical safety programs along with in-office management services.  She has been the Nursing/Allied Health Chairperson of ASLMS and in 1999 and 2014 received the Nurse Excellence Award.  She served a three year term as the ASLMS Nursing-Allied Health Representative and Laser Safety Representative to the Board.  Patti is presently the co-chairman of the 2017 Nursing Allied Health workshop at ASLMS.  Patti is a national consultant for a variety of laser companies and professional organizations including appointment as the principal medical and aesthetic instructor for Rockwell Laser Industries.  Patti is an active member on the ANSI Z136.3 committee where she has been appointed as the acting secretary. She also serves as a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC 76 WG4 and WG12.  She serves as the Communication Chairperson for the International Council on Surgical Plume (ICSP).  Presently accredited as a Certified Educational Provider of Contact Hours per the State of California.

 Patti Owens is presently working with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon as a surgical, aesthetic and PACU nurse in Rancho Mirage, CA. Patti’s previous employer for 11 years was with a Dermatologist in Olympia, WA.  Patti managed the laser/aesthetic and marketing program along with performing a variety of cosmetic and aesthetic laser, light and RF procedures. She was also acting as the facility’s Laser Safety Officer.  She has been a clinical investigator in the planning and initiation of various FDA studies. 

Patti’s past employment includes 13 years as the Laser Manager at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.  Her responsibilities included program development and supervision of 13 laser systems, implementation of the laser perioperative role, development of an aesthetic laser in-house and mobile program, and enforcement of safety policies as the facility’s acting LSO. 

Patti received her BSN from the University of Colorado in 1976 and graduated with her Master’s degree in Health Administration from Chapman University in 1996.  Her co-authored book with Pamela Hill, Milady’s Aesthetician Series, Laser and Light Therapy, was published in 2009 by Cengage Learning.
