  • Great pride in having  my community with emergency care via my association with the local ambulance service.
  • My career started out in and has been primarily focused in Critical Care and Emergency Nursing.  When my children were young, I left the hospital and was their school nurse for 9 years, then returned to the hospital setting to finish my career in an Emergency setting.

  • I am honored to be presenting a breakout session entitled, "Human Trafficking Victims in the ED" at the 2020 Illinois ENA Spring Symposium.
Favorite Thing About My Profession:

i've appreciated the flexibility in opportunities and scheduled hours with a significant career satisfaction throughout my years of nursing practice.   I've been afforded the opportunity to mold my career to maximize work life balance as I raised my four daughters.

Virtues:

I value my lifelong dedication to volunteering for my community.  I am a lifetime American Red Cross Nurse awarded after organizing numerous blood drives in the McDonough County community. I was a 15 year volunteer as Prehospital RN, Assistant Administrator, and Educator for the Ambulance service with the Prophetstown Fire Protection District.  Holding a lifetime membership with the Girl Scouts of America, I  served as a  local leader, and integrated my emergency nursing skills assisting as a first aid provider at numerous council and national events.  Currently, I am the parish nurse at Our Saviour Lutheran Church.  I'm a member of the McLean County Medical Reserve Corps.   Finally, I volunteer with Young Hearts for Life, a movement to screen middle and high schoolers to prevent sudden cardiac death among that age population.
