Join NYONL colleagues for a two-part webinar series designed to improve your knowledge and skills in healthcare financing. 

Essentials for Nursing Leadership: Resource, Financial, and Operations Management

It will be held in two sessions:  Session 1: Wednesday, May15th 4:00 – 6:30 pm Eastern and Session 2: Thursday, May16th 4:00 – 6:00 pm Eastern

Course Objectives:

  • Build a foundational understanding of financial basics useful to nursing leadership.
  • Gain an understanding of performance measurement and learn the basics of capital budgeting.
  • Become familiar with key financial/budget concepts: capital vs. operational budgets, salary vs. non-salary costs, revenue streams, types of budget models: zero-based vs non-zero-based, hours per patient days/skill mix.
  • Prepare a budget- create a staffing budget and monitor and justify variances.
  • Review the importance of key stakeholders in healthcare payment.
  • How to approach financial reports; what you need to know, Background of payment methods, financial management, general accounting principles for nursing, Building a business case: concepts to learn.
  • Identify how clinical and financial decisions impact day-to-day operations as well as the overall health of the organization.
  • Review ways to monitor unit operations.
  • Top of license practice and how finance plays a part.
  • Share how reimbursement and healthcare reform impact financing care
  • Expand your proficiency by learning about CMS, managed care, hospice, and other reimbursements.
  • Expand your knowledge toward contributing to financial decision-making.

Cost: NYONL Members: $45  Non-Members: $60.  Registration is for both sessions. Single session attendance is not available.
