Charlotte Barry
Charlotte Barry PhD, RN, FAAN

Dr. Charlotte Barry is a Professor Emerita in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University, where she taught across the curriculum courses in caring, cultural caring, community health and primary care. Her research areas of interest are caring for individuals and families across the lifespan, teaching/learning caring and the development of caring theories to guide nursing practice. Charlotte attended her first IAHC research conference in the early 1990’s and became immersed in the beautiful work of the association. Inspired during a break-out session led by Marilyn Crystal, Charlotte wrote a poem titled I am a Nurse. Since that time, she has presented several papers and workshops at the annual research conference, has served on the Board, as Treasurer, as chair of the Nominating & Awards/ Scholarships Committees, and member of the By Laws Committee. She has published in the journal, is a manuscript reviewer and is the Assistant Editor of Essays. Dr. Barry has multiple publications in national and international nursing journals and has received funding to support her research in the areas of school-based community wellness centers, global health, and delegation in school nursing. Currently she is funded by Sigma Theta Tau, Iota Xi Chapter to conduct research on caring for persons with mental health in Haiti. Dr. Barry is an Honorary Professor in the Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda, Africa and has mentored several nursing scholars in caring from Uganda and Thailand.
