Meeting Objectives:

1. Reinforce Shared Purpose and Policy Alignment

  • Review outcomes and key findings from the CTX Nursing & Stakeholder Coalition Building Summit.

  • Reaffirm TNA District 7’s mission, vision, and policy alignment with state-level priorities.

  • Identify areas where local coalition priorities can inform or strengthen statewide legislative initiatives.

2. Conduct a Policy Readiness and Environmental Scan

  • Review anticipated legislative issues affecting nursing and population health (e.g., workforce, education, safety, access).

  • Identify current or emerging practice and regulatory concerns within District 7.

  • Begin compiling an issue matrix categorizing priorities as local, regional, or statewide.

3. Integrate Committee Perspectives

  • Facilitate a joint working session between Government Affairs, Nursing Practice, and Policy Council committees to:

    • Map intersections between practice issues and policy advocacy.

    • Identify gaps in communication or alignment across committees.

    • Establish shared responsibility for tracking, analyzing, and communicating legislative updates.

4. Develop a 12-Month Advocacy Action Plan

  • Define key milestones and deliverables leading up to the 90th Texas Legislative Session (e.g., quarterly check-ins, legislative visits, advocacy training).

  • Outline a timeline for policy brief development, stakeholder engagement, and coalition follow-up.

  • Assign committee leads or subgroups to specific focus areas (e.g., nursing workforce policy, scope of practice, education funding).

5. Strengthen Interprofessional and Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Identify opportunities for continued collaboration with coalition partners from the Summit (academic institutions, healthcare systems, associations).

  • Establish a communication structure for updates, joint advocacy campaigns, and rapid mobilization during the legislative session.

6. Define Evaluation and Accountability Measures

  • Determine how progress toward legislative readiness and advocacy outcomes will be tracked (e.g., dashboards, reporting cadence, key metrics).

  • Set baseline indicators for policy engagement, coalition activity, and member participation.
