• Understand the characteristics of effective meeting leadership and how parliamentary procedure creates a structured, respectful meeting environment.
• Become familiar with the planning and preparation required before a meeting is called to order, including agenda development and use of the consent agenda.
• Gain an understanding of the standard order of business and the procedural steps involved in opening, conducting, and closing a meeting.
• Recognize the purpose and proper content of meeting minutes as the official record of organizational decisions and understanding what must and must not be documented.
