Registered Nurse – Nursing Home Surveyor/Complaint Investigator

Location: New Rochelle, NY

Employment Type: Contract / Travel

Hourly Rate: $45/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Review Company in New Rochelle, NY as a Nursing Home Surveyor/Complaint Investigator. This contract/travel-based role is ideal for a nurse with regulatory, review, or investigation experience who is passionate about improving care standards in long-term care facilities.

Qualifications

  • Active NYS RN license (required)
  • At least 1 year of survey experience (required)
  • One of the following:
  • 2+ years of experience in utilization review, medical review, claims adjudication, fraud investigation, or surveillance
  • 3 years of clinical or administrative nursing experience
  • BSN and 2 years of relevant experience
  • SMQT Certification preferred (or willing to obtain within 12 months)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to onsite review locations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys and complaint investigations at nursing homes (including abuse and neglect cases)
  • Perform surveillance activities to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations
  • Draft and submit Statements of Deficiencies (SOD) using Principles of Documentation
  • Assess provider compliance with Plans of Correction
  • Perform data entry in state and federal databases
  • Support state monitoring during Immediate Jeopardy incidents
  • Attend required meetings and administrative hearings
  • Follow Department of Health (DOH) and internal policies and schedules
  • Travel to assigned locations per schedule
