Job Description

Atlantic Health System is seeking a PER DIEM Nursing Assistant I for the MMC Ambulatory Surgery Center located in Rockaway, NJ. The days can fall between Monday - Friday, with varying shifts, depending on the surgical schedule.

Responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients undergoing ambulatory surgery and other procedures including but not limited to; Colonoscopies, Ortho sports and minor trauma, Ortho hand, GYN, Laparoscopic, Plastics, Urology, General, Rectal, Podiatry, Pediatrics.

• Supporting nursing personnel in providing direct patient care to surgical patients
• Assisting patients with ambulating, eating, drinking, toileting, dressing, positioning
• Measuring vital signs including blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, blood glucose
• Administering or monitoring basic treatments as directed by registered nurse
• Helping to ensure a safe care environment at all times
• Continuous rounding throughout department to ensure patient and family needs are met
• Ensuring patients and families have a positive patient experience by exhibiting PRIDE behaviors, rounding, collaboration, teamwork and a positive attitude
• Good communication skills
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have positive customer service skills
• Change bed linens and clean stretchers and wheelchairs
• Change waste receptacles as needed
• Change sharps containers as needed
• Assist in the turnover and cleaning of the operating room
• Assist in the equipment management and positioning devices of the department
• Assist is restocking supplies and monitoring par levels
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Assist in the transport of patients upon discharge
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Level I - High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-3 years of experience as a Nursing Assistant in Patient Care or other related field with demonstrated increased responsibility in the healthcare industry.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (Can be obtained after hire)
  
  
  

Minimum Experience

• Ability to multitask and function in a fast paced, clinical facility including the operating room, pre op recovery and second stage recovery area
• Surgery center or operating room experience strongly preferred
• Emergency Medical technician experience welcome to apply
