Job Description:

The Medical/Surgical Staff Nurse is a highly skilled individual who functions within the Medical/Surgical areas of Nursing and Patient Care, and various patient care areas to provide clinical nurse expertise, care, and education to diverse patient populations. The staff nurse will collaborate with other health team members to assure quality care is provided to various Veteran patients. The staff nurse is required to work and support multiple in patient areas within the medical center as staffing and patient acuity needs acutely arise.

Responsibilities:

• Identifies needs for possible discharge planning and appropriate referrals.
• Identifies current level of knowledge and skill of patient/relative in management of healthcare.
• Plans interventions which promote health.
• Classifies patients according to the patient acuity system.
• Plans and directs nursing care of medicine/surgical patients admitted to or referred from other services via contributions to the plan of care.
• Determines nursing diagnosis based on analysis of assessment data.
• Initiates patient care conferences with nursing staff.

Qualifications:

South Carolina RN License

Required Skills:

2 years Med Surg Experience
