Position Description

A nonprofit health organization in The Bronx is actively seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join one of their residential facilities in Manhattan on a Part-time basis.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: 3 days a week
  • Hours: 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm
  • Setting: Residential
  • Patient Population: Adults, Developmentally Disabled

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) in coordinating following through on provisions of healthcare services
  • Keep progress notes and summarize for quarterly, semi-annual and annual reviews
  • Provide healthcare to individuals receiving services; provide direct hygiene and health instruction to individuals receiving services and families, as required
  • Handle control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment
  • Provide first aid to persons in need of immediate care
  • Assist the Physicians in medical examinations, as needed
  • Schedule appointments and follow up on Physicians' recommendations
  • Keep up to date and accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents and other pertinent data via progress notes
  • Administer medications when appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties, as requested

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • CPR certification
  • Experience in the delivery of community-based health services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities
  • Knowledge of equipment typically used by persons receiving services, including wheelchairs and adaptive devices
  • Solid assessment and documentation skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
