Registered Nurse – Pediatric Cardiology (Outpatient, Cath Lab Coordination)

Our healthcare recruitment firm is seeking a highly organized and clinically skilled Registered Nurse to support a renowned Pediatric Cardiology Interventional Catheterization Team at one of New York City's leading health systems. This is a full-time outpatient role within a collaborative, specialized practice consisting of five pediatric cardiologists, focusing on cardiac catheterization procedures for pediatric patients.
About the Role:
This unique role blends clinical coordination, patient-facing care, and insurance-related support for a high-volume interventional team. The RN will serve as the central point for triaging, scheduling, and coordinating pediatric cardiac catheterization cases, while ensuring smooth communication across internal teams, external referring providers, and insurance entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage incoming patients (internal and external referrals) for clinical appropriateness and urgency of catheterization
- Conduct clinical assessments via phone to determine case priority and procedural readiness
- Draft and submit medical necessity letters; coordinate peer-to-peer reviews with insurance providers
- Manage Cath lab scheduling in collaboration with physicians and procedural staff
- Perform pre-procedural processing, including patient education, ordering labs, reviewing results, and preparing documentation
- Maintain clear communication with families, referring providers, and hospital departments
- Act as a liaison between the medical team, insurance companies, and patient families
Preferred Background:
- Experience in pediatric cardiology highly preferred
- Open to strong candidates from inpatient pediatric units with experience in triage, care coordination, or insurance navigation
- Familiarity with interventional or procedural scheduling, especially in pediatrics, is a plus
- Must be comfortable in a role that blends clinical judgment, patient interaction, and administrative follow-through
Qualifications:
- Current NY State RN license (Required)
- BSN (Required)
- BLS certification (Required)
- Minimum 1–2 years of pediatric clinical experience, ideally in a hospital setting
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comfort with phone-based patient triage and interdepartmental coordination
Schedule & Compensation:
- Monday–Friday, Day Shift (No weekends or nights)
- Full-time, onsite outpatient setting
