Georgia Highlands Medical Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Quality Improvement Director passionate about improving community health. This role supports our clinical team by making a meaningful impact on an underserved population.

The Quality Improvement Director (QID) serves as the principal support staff member for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).  He or she is responsible for assisting the CMO in leading and overseeing all medical programs, ensuring that the organization meets and exceeds directives, rules, regulations and clinical performance standards of the state, the federal government, and accrediting bodies.

  • Serves as the principal administrative support staff member for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), helping oversee all medical programs and ensuring that the organization meets and exceeds directives, rules, regulations and clinical performance standards of the state, the federal government, and accrediting bodies.
  • Implements and manages GHMS’ organization-wide quality improvement activities including, but not limited to, GHMS’ Quality Improvement Plan, Chart Review processes, System-Wide Measure Report; and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) implementation.
  • Encourages and develops participation in quality improvement initiatives from all staff members at GHMS, including training and coaching on the use of the Plan, Do, Study, Act cycle, the Care Model and other QI methodologies.
  • Leads the development and writing of the Annual Quality Improvement Work Plan and related activities.
  • Assists the CMO in developing reports and recommending changes in process improvement and clinical programming to improve the delivery of care and/or respond to community need.
  • Assists the CMO in ensuring all medical services and operations are in compliance with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies, including state and federal laws related to the provision of primary care, laboratory operations, and any other requirements.
  • Develops, writes, implements and monitors organization-wide policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships in the medical and social services community on behalf of GHMS, developing relationships with hospitals, specialty providers and others to help secure access to GHMS patients.
  • Represents GHMS in community settings, conferences, advisory bodies and collaborating agencies to further efforts that strengthen GHMS and its mission to improve community health.
  • Effectively practices teamwork, respect for coworkers, good attendance and punctuality.  Properly requests time off as needed per GHMS policies and procedures.
  • Provides assistance within and outside of the clinical department, as requested and/or as appropriate, to ensure the ongoing success of the organization.

    Education / Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Health Science Field: Public Health, Nursing or comparable required.
    • Three years’ experience in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance or Quality Management in a health care setting required.
    • Experience in Healthcare Information Systems, such as an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management (PM) Systems.
    • Experience Performing Coding Reviews for ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT-4 Coding.
    • Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance/Quality Management experience in a Primary Care, Multi-Site setting, specifically a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
    • Familiarity with LEAN, Six Sigma, and/or PDSA models of Performance Improvement.
    • Consultation, teaching, data analysis and interpretation, and project management.

     

    Licensure / Certifications / Desired Credentials

    • Current State of Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) License or License Practical Nurse (LPN).
    • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) by the Healthcare Quality Certification Commission (HQCC).
    • Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
    • Motor vehicle Liability Insurance Policy.
