Job Summary
You supervise nursing staff development. Create, implement, and evaluate education programs. Collaborate with educators and staff. Improve patient care, staff performance, and organization outcomes.
Essential Functions of the Role
You'll oversee Generalists and Specialists, guiding them in creating educational programs aligned with Texas nursing standards.
You'll work with the team to plan, implement, and assess policies.
Manage budget and resources, engage in quality improvement, programs, and governance councils to reach goals.
By focusing on evidence-based nursing, professional development, research, and scholarly activities, you can help create a productive work environment.
Maintain skills to support development. Ensure activities meet regulations.
Key Success Factors
Knowledge in the areas of professional registered nurse and the professional development educator/specialist, aligning with the standards of ANCC.
Knowledge of nursing care standards from certifying bodies, hospital, and department. Familiar with laws and regulations.
Experience in management roles with exposure to behavioral based interviewing, team dynamics, and excellent social communication skills.
Understanding quality measures related to assigned scope and tactics to improve outcomes through evidence-based adult learning concepts and proficiency checks.
Skill in using different assessments, like tests and feedback, to establish program success and make changes at different levels.
Capacity to teach, guide, and encourage others in conceptualizing and designing programs.
Skill in managing work allocation and supervision for a group of staff members following set procedures and guidelines.
Capability to elect effectively on recruitment and termination matters.
Skills in training and conducting performance assessments of supervised staff.
Basic computer literacy, including skills in Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications
Master's degree, specifically in the field of Nursing.
A minimum of (3) three years of relevant work experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification needed or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire if not already obtained.
*Obtain a NPD certification within 6 months of hire.
