Position Description

Job Overview – Registered Nurse Lead (IDD & Residential Care):

Compensation: $105,000 – $110,000/year

Location: Nassau County and Suffolk County, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Our client is hiring a Registered Nurse Lead (IDD & Residential Care) to oversee nursing operations across residential programs for individuals with developmental disabilities in Nassau County and Suffolk County, NY. In this leadership role, you’ll supervise Residential RNs, manage AMAP training, ensure OPWDD compliance, and provide coverage support as needed. Ideal for experienced RNs with a background in IDD, autism care, and regulatory compliance who thrive in community-based care environments.

Responsibilities as the Registered Nurse Lead:

  • Nursing Leadership: Supervise Residential RNs, providing clinical guidance and support across assigned locations.
  • Training & AMAP Oversight: Oversee AMAP certification and training compliance in collaboration with the RN Educator.
  • Orientation & Coverage: Train new nurses and provide temporary RN coverage during absences or vacancies.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to OPWDD standards, accurate medical documentation, and incident reporting.
  • Emergency Support: Handle weekday phone triage and coordinate responses to urgent medical situations.

Qualifications for the Registered Nurse Lead:

  • Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of nursing experience, including at least 3 years in IDD and OPWDD settings, with supervisory and Autism support experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in clinical documentation, electronic health records (EHRs), and medication administration systems.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and foster a team-oriented culture.
  • Additional: Valid driver’s license is required.
