Hourly pay range: $38.00-$46.00/hr. – depending on your level of experience

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Performs comprehensive assessment of patient’s clinical condition and psycho-social needs inclusive of caregiver needs during the perioperative period
• Observes behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications; takes appropriate action and documents
• Demonstrates knowledge of drugs, actions, and side effects of medications administered.
• Protects patient’s right to privacy
• Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurances as appropriate
• Communicates clearly and concisely, assessment and reassessment of the patient in charting and with notification of surgeon and/or anesthesiologist as necessary; collaborates with all other health-care personnel and physicians in the delivery of coordinated patient care
• Ensures patient readiness for surgery including, but not limited to, NPO status, medication administration, timeout protocol, and chart completeness
• Implements the plan of care safely and effectively and provides a safe environment, including, but not limited to:
• Positioning patient safely, padding bony prominence and ensuring respiratory and circulatory protection
• Ensuring correct prepping and draping procedures
• Ensuring asepsis during all procedures. Opens and presents sterile items to sterile field aseptically; ensures supplies are not expired
• Accounting for all sponges, needles, and sharps, during and after the procedures and documenting appropriately
• Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning O.R. suites before, between, and after cases
• Accurately records, labels, and handles specimens
• Can perform all duties of a circulating room nurse
• Gives thorough report of patient’s intra-operative condition to PACU nurse
• Collaborates with other members of the surgical team to ensure efficient turn-around time between each procedure

REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:

• State-approved Registered Nurse (RN) required
• Certification as an Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) preferred
• 3-5 years of experience as a nurse providing perioperative care preferred
• Previous experience in Cath Lab, Electrophysiology, or Invasive Vascular experience preferred
• Exceptional knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment, as well as sterile techniques preferred
• Proficiency in recordkeeping and patient management systems, such as eHospital and PatientTrak preferred
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required from American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or Pacific Medical Training approved
• Current BLS Certification required from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety & Health Institute
