Pre-Op Registered Nurse
The Pre-Op Registered Nurse is responsible for preparing patients for surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort, and understanding throughout the preoperative process. This role involves assessing patient conditions, verifying surgical and anesthesia readiness, and providing education and emotional support to patients and their families prior to surgery.

Pre-Op Registered Nurse
The Pre-Op Registered Nurse is responsible for preparing patients for surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort, and understanding throughout the preoperative process. This role involves assessing patient conditions, verifying surgical and anesthesia readiness, and providing education and emotional support to patients and their families prior to surgery.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including reviewing medical history, medications, and allergies.
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient condition prior to surgery.
- Prepare patients for surgery by initiating IVs, administering medications as ordered, and ensuring adherence to preoperative protocols.
- Provide patient and family education regarding the surgical process and postoperative expectations.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure accurate and timely preparation.
- Respond promptly to any preoperative complications and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all regulatory and safety standards.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and staff.

Required Skills:
- Strong patient assessment and critical-thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of anesthesia recovery and pain management protocols.
- Proficient in IV insertion and medication administration.
- Ability to recognize and respond to emergency situations promptly.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication for patient and family education.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS if required)
- Minimum 2 years in PACU, PreOp, ICU, or Critical Care.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient environment.
