As Medical Staff RN-CEPS communicates information relevant to operative or other procedure review, departmental review, blood and blood component review, medication management review, Medical Record review, Infection Control, Risk Management, Environment of Care and Patient Safety, through the compilation and presentation of the data in a clear, concise manner to the governing board, administration, appropriate medical staff or hospital committees, and staff. The RN assists with analysis, identifying opportunities for improvement, and evaluating the effect of action plans.

As Risk Coordinator conducts investigations of complaints following allegations of malpractice. The incumbent may be called upon to review medical records, medical staff R&R, bylaws, company policies, and overall medical operations. The incumbent will review patient complaints and determinations on notifying organizations insurance company to initiate a potential coverage regarding liability. Once determined that potential liability exists works closely with law offices hired by insurance company. Duties often include compiling data, researching issues and writing official reports.
