Registered Nurse (RN) – 6A Acute Care for Elderly (ACE)

Day Shift (Hours: 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.), weekends, and holidays, as per department guidelines.

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about caring for the elderly.

In this important role, you will work closely with patients, focusing on delivering high-quality care to those experiencing acute illnesses. The unit primarily serves older adults, typically aged 70 and above, who require specialized attention and support. Our mission is to prioritize the maintenance of function and independence while also providing education to patients and their families.

Unit Overview

Our nurses care for five medical patients during each shift and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, which includes a unit-based Nurse Practitioner, attending and consulting physicians, pharmacy staff, physical therapists, and other support personnel.

As a member of the 6A team, you will engage in a genuine relationship-based care model. You will develop relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, guided by our core values of love and excellence.

Education & Requirements:

• DE RN License or a Compact Nursing License is required.
• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. 
• Candidates with an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) must obtain a BSN within three years of the hire date. 
• All registered nurses (RNs) must have one year of experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
• A demonstrated passion for working with older adults is essential.
• Gerontology Certification preferred.
• BLS required.
